But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord. At an acceptable and opportune time, O God, in the multitude of Your mercy and the abundance of Your loving-kindness hear me, and in the truth and faithfulness of Your salvation answer me. [Psalm 69v13] – Amplified Bible
Sometimes, when people of other religion say they are going to pray, I ask myself this question - Whom are they praying to? Obviously, they are not praying to the God of the Bible. They might be speaking to a force or nothing really in existence. Probably just wasting their time. However, when the believer prays, they need to be conscious of whom they pray to.
In Luke chapter 11 verse 1-2, the bible says, “one day He (Jesus) was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of his disciples said, "Master, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples." So he said, "When you pray, say, Father… In this scripture, Jesus answers the question – Whom do we pray to? When we pray, we pray to the Father, in the Name of Jesus and through the Holy Spirit. Luke 16v2 says, “When you pray, say, Father. It reveals whom we are supposed to pray to – the Father.
The first lesson Jesus taught on prayer to the disciples is whom to pray to. Obviously, its one of the main key to effective prayer – Whom to pray to. When I spend time in prayer, I need to be conscious of whom am praying to. It is important to understand the nature of the Father.
The intro scripture gives a clue about the nature of God – the Father; merciful, full of loving-kindness, truthful and faithful. Merciful means to be compassionate, gracious and softhearted. Loving-kindness means faithful love in action or loyal love. Our Father is truthful, meaning He is true, real, genuine and sincere. The word faithful means trustworthy, loyal and unfailing. That is the nature of whom we pray to.
This revelation should trigger a prayer revival in your heart to pray like never before. God is more willing to answer our prayers. He loves to be depended on. When you pray, have the consciousness of whom you are praying to – the Father who is merciful, full of loving-kindness, truthful and faithful.
