At one time I will suddenly speak concerning a nation or kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it; and if [the people of] that nation concerning which I have spoken turn from their evil, I will relent and reverse My decision concerning the evil that I thought to do to them. At another time I will suddenly speak concerning a nation or kingdom, that I will build up and plant it; and if they do evil in My sight, obeying not My voice, then I will regret and reverse My decision concerning the good with which I said I would benefit them. [Jeremiah 18 v 7-10] - The Amplified Bible
Prophets are God’s spokespersons. They reveal the mind of God. Throughout eons of time, God has used prophets to communicate His ideas to humanity. The birth of Jesus, Our Savior, was announced by various prophets before its fulfillment some 2000 years ago. God has not ceased to speak to His people through the prophet.
From personal experiences in my short journey with Jesus so far, I can authoritatively say God still speak with His people. I am by no way saying I am a prophet. The New Testament believer can hear God for Himself. I am also not saying that the days of the prophets have passed. God still calls people into the office of the prophet [see Ephesians 4v11]. When people are called to the office of the prophet, they prophesy with ease. It does not mean they are matured Christians. They are graced to easily see and hear from the spirit realm.
You cannot go to school to become a prophet. Bible scholars believe that the bible made mention of the school of prophets [see 2 Kings 2v3 and 4v38) but those schools were instituted to train prophets not produce prophets. When God speaks, it require knowledge to interpret and communicate. It requires wisdom to communicate and where to communicate it if it is not instructed. Some prophecies are required to be prayed about by the prophet and not to be revealed to the person it is concerned. Some are to be declared openly but with wisdom.
There are genuine Men of God who only speak when God speaks. Obviously, there are fake prophets who uses their psychological knowledge to predict future happenings. They speak because of the crowd and display their ignorance of the counsel of God but we should not despise prophecies [see 1 Thessalonians 5v20].
One myth about prophets is that they know all things but that is far from the truth. They know what God reveals to them. They are not God. I have received jaw-dropping prophecies about my life that makes me think I am God’s favorite paddy. I believe those prophecies because they witness to my spirit but most of those prophecies are yet to be fulfilled. Most prophecies are conditional!
There are conditional and unconditional prophecies. Conditional prophecies requires certain elements to bring it into fruition. They will come to pass only when some conditions are met. Most prophecies from the pulpit are conditional. They require that you run with it before you can see its fulfillment. The intro scripture clearly explains a conditional prophecy. Unconditional prophecies are rare. They are decrees made by God and requires no human interventions to bring it to pass. Heaven makes sure those prophecies come to pass.
Are there prophecies you have received that have not been fulfilled? You may be thinking - Did the prophet lie? If he or she is, a true Man of God and spoke as commanded of God, then the substance of those prophecies are hanging in your spiritual wardrobe waiting for you to meet the demands of those prophecies.
If you have received a word of prophecy to be wealthy then start putting your thinking cap in the area of finance and business. Have a creative mind for business and how to sustain it. Do not behave like the guy who was promised by the parents to be relocated to abroad and dropped off from school in the hope to starting life afresh in abroad… He is still selling bread in the streets of Nsawam. Make your life count!
Prophecies are not automatic. The intro scriptures says, “the instant I (God) speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, if that nation against whom I (God) have spoken turns from its evil, I (God) will relent of the disaster that I (God) thought to bring upon it. And the instant I God) speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I (God) will relent concerning the good with which I (God) said I would benefit it”. The Prophet did not lie! Wage war with the prophecy through prayer. Run with the prophecy. Meet its demands.
